September 6th, 2009 There is some progress to report on the parish renovation project: Vince DiBella, our architect has begun the process of bringing our project before the City of Mesa for planning/zoning and design review. He, along with his civil and landscape engineers will prepare the drawings necessary to receive approval from the City of Mesa. Typically, this is a rather long process which includes going before all of the City Commissions and review boards that can easily take a year or more. Rick Andreen from Shea Homes and I both agree that it is a good idea to begin this preliminary process as we await an improvement in the housing market. It is everyone’s goal and hope that by the time we have completed all of the required steps with the City we will be ready to begin the project. I want to thank all of you who have been faithfully fulfilling your pledge to the Capital Campaign. Thus far we have received a little over $460,000 in campaign funds, leaving us with almost $300,000 to collect by March, 2010. Let us keep the goal clearly in mind: a renovation of Queen of Parish and School that will position us to provide excellent education in our school and to conduct our parish mission for the next several generations.
